UPDATE: 7:30 a.m., Sept. 20, 2023

The latest information we have reported from our schools indicates that 75% of our buses are running their routes this morning. We are working with our bus drivers and the coaches who can drive buses to provide transportation for the estimated 2,340 students who are impacted. We appreciate the patience and support of our parents this morning.

Tonight the Ascension Parish School Board's Transportation Committee voted to authorize staff to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) to install air conditioning on its route buses and bring back a detailed cost plan for both the implementation and maintenance of this action.

Ascension Public Schools will hold its annual district-wide high school career and college expo on Sept. 6, 2023, at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales. Students and parents from all Ascension Parish public and private schools in grades 8 through 12 are invited to attend. Businesses and groups wishing to participate should register for a table by Aug. 23, 2023.

Ascension Public Schools announces the appointment of five new school administrators: Donaldsonville Primary Principal Rebecca "Becky" Templet, Donaldsonville Primary Assistant Principal Kelly Robert, Dutchtown High Assistant Principal Jennifer Bordelon, Dutchtown High Assistant Principal Tara Trabeau, and St. Amant High Assistant Principal Tara Jones.

2023 LEAP RESULTS: TOTAL MASTERY+ #1 in the state #2 AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS #2 STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES #3 ECONOMICALLY

Today the Louisiana Department of Education released the results of the spring 2023 Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (LEAP) assessments. Ascension Public Schools not only exceeded state scores on all four subjects, but also achieved the highest combined scores in the state with 51% of students achieving mastery and above (advanced). Ascension also led the state in the percentage of students achieving mastery and above in ELA with 61 percent.
