Ascension Public Schools is thrilled to announce the winners of the Governor’s Office of Disability Affairs (GODA) Inclusive Art Competition. Out of 16 submissions from our Talented Art students, eight of them placed. In addition, Ascension’s Gifted and Talented Teacher Bonnie Dempster was honored as the first-place winner in the adult category.

The Ascension Public Schools Office of Student Services is thrilled to announce the eagerly awaited return of the second annual Student Well-Being Night. Following the success and positive feedback from the inaugural event, the Office of Student Services has expanded its efforts to host well-being nights for each feeder system, starting with the Donaldsonville.

Ascension Public Schools announces the 2023-24 Students of the Year for fifth, eighth, and twelfth grades. These outstanding students will be recognized before the Ascension Parish School Board meeting on Dec. 5, 2023. Also announced today are the three district level winners: Sugar Mill Primary’s Amina Britton, Bluff Middle's Natasha Goldthrop, and Dutchtown High's Landri Domingue.

The Louisiana Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (LaTESOL) recently granted the prestigious title of Teacher of the Year for 2023 to Marissa Bejarano-Fernbaugh, a Dutchtown High School teacher who is an advocate for English language learners. This remarkable achievement was celebrated at the recent LaTESOL conference, recognizing her unwavering dedication and innovative teaching methods.

This message is to provide you with an update on the Ascension Parish School Board's efforts to create a new feeder system when Prairieville High School opens in Fall 2024. In order to create a new feeder system, it is necessary to adjust attendance zones for middle schools that feed into the new high school, as well as primary schools that feed into the middle schools. This is why creating new attendance zones will impact most schools across the East Side of the district including primary, middle, and high schools.
