About the Search
The Ascension Parish School Board invites applications for the position of Superintendent of Ascension Public Schools. The individual selected as Superintendent may assume the position as early as July 2023.
Ascension Public Schools is one of Louisiana’s top performing school districts, achieving an “A” rating for the past 10 consecutive years. A diverse school district, Ascension educates over 24,000 students at 31 schools and employs over 3,500 teachers and staff.
The Board is seeking a superintendent who has demonstrated success in improving achievement of students through strong instructional leadership. Candidates must possess the ability to manage senior level organizational processes. Candidates will be expected to have high level executive experience with demonstrated performance of exceptional quality. At minimum, potential candidates shall possess a master’s degree with a Type A Teaching Certificate or Educational Leader Certificate Level 3 (EDL 3), 10 years administrative or supervisory experience, three of which are within the last five years in accordance with Louisiana State Department of Education Certification Requirements.
The deadline for submitting applications shall by noon on March 20, 2023. Applications shall be submitted through the applicant portal, AscensionSchools.org/ApplyNow.

Compensation
The Ascension Parish School Board approved a compensation package including a minimum base salary of $190,000.
Superintendent Search Process
The Ascension Parish School Board shall advertise for the position of Superintendent for a minimum of thirty days.
All publication requirements shall be completed at least 30 days prior to action by the Board to fill the position of Superintendent.
Potential candidates shall apply directly to the Ascension Parish School Board through the applicant portal, AscensionSchools.org/ApplyNow.
An informational webpage about the search will be created on www.ascensionschools.org that will include, at minimum, the advertisement, a link to the applicant portal, and the ability for members of the public to provide input about the search.
Applications will be processed by the Ascension Public Schools Human Resources Department, including verification of certifications.
After the application deadline, the Ascension Parish School Board will meet to review applications and nominate candidates to invite for interviews.*
Selected candidates will interview with the Ascension Parish School Board, which may be conducted partially in Executive Session. The Ascension Parish School Board selects the next Superintendent at a Board Meeting.*
