Teacher Tuition Exemption

• Applicants must be a certified teacher. Non-certified teachers or practitioners enrolled in alternate certification programs are not eligible.
• Applicants must be employed as a teacher for the semester they are applying for tuition exemption.
• Applicants must attend an accredited Louisiana University. 

• May register for courses being used in pursuit of a degree or certification endorsement for up to 6 college credit hours per regular semester.
• May register for courses being used in pursuit of a degree or certification endorsement for up to 9 college credit hours per summer semester.
• Supervisor must approve the employee’s application for tuition exemption.
• Application must be emailed to Tuitionexemption@apsb.org before the indicated deadline. 
• If a change of course occurs, it is the employee's responsibility to contact Tuitionexemption@apsb.org within 48 hours of the change. 
• Exemption will be declined if employee receives below C grades. 

• All hours as described above are eligible for exemption. 
• Fees are not exempt (reimbursable) under this program. Employees are still subject to pay all fees associated with the courses they are enrolled in. 
• TTE does not cover fees. It is strictly for tuition. Employees are subject to pay all fees associated with the courses. 

• Complete the Teacher Tuition Exemption Application. 
• Send the application to your supervisor for approval.
• Applications will only be accepted during the respective windows.
• Please do not send applications for multiple semesters at once.

Teacher Tuition Exemption Deadlines and Credit 

• Once the window is closed for TTE, approved applicants are placed on spreadsheets and sent to their respective university and principal. In turn, your principal will email the spreadsheet to you. This is your verification that you have been approved. 
• Please allow 15 business days after the window closes to receive the spreadsheet as this gives us time to process and approve applications, build spreadsheets and send them out. 
• Also, please be sure you are using the TTE application that is on this website.

• Please submit an original Teacher Tuition Exemption Receivables Form directly to SELU. SELU will not accept copies.
