Report Bullying

Ascension Public Schools is committed to providing safe, welcoming, and student-friendly campuses. We work with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office to give students a safe and anonymous way to report bullying or other inappropriate behavior whenever and wherever it occurs.

Submit an Anonymous Tip by Text

Students can anonymously report a concern by following these steps:

  1. Text 847411.

  2. Type APSO, followed by the tip.

  3. Press send.

Parents and guardians should encourage students who have cell phones to save 847411 in their contacts.

Younger students who do not use cell phones are encouraged to remember: Tell a friend. Talk to an adult.

Parents and guardians may also report bullying on behalf of their children. By working together and speaking up, we can help keep every student safe.

What Is Bullying?

Louisiana defines bullying as a pattern of harmful behavior that includes one or more of the following:

  • Written, electronic, or verbal communications, including threats of harm

  • Obscene gestures, taunting, or malicious teasing

  • Repeatedly and purposefully excluding a student from activities

  • Physical acts, such as hitting, kicking, pushing, or damaging personal property

To meet the legal definition of bullying, the behavior must occur more than once. It must also cause physical harm or fear of harm, damage property or create fear of property damage, interfere with a student’s learning, create an intimidating or threatening educational environment, or substantially disrupt school operations.

File an Official Bullying Report

Students, parents, guardians, and educators may complete the official Bullying Report Form. Submit the completed form to the principal or another employee at the school where the incident occurred.

Under Louisiana law, schools are responsible for investigating reported bullying, notifying the parents or guardians of the students involved, and taking appropriate action. Bullying reports are handled by the school or school system where the incident occurred.
